Powell<\/strong> was President of the International Centre for Health Concerns, Inc. In this role he trained and consulted worldwide on substance abuse, management and leadership issues, and behavioural health. The following is a brief background on his international work by continent and country of effort since he began working in the behavioural health field in 1965. He is the Medical Director of Maryland Treatment Centres, a regional behavioural healthcare provider, which offers programmes for residential and outpatient treatment of drug-involved and dual diagnosis in adolescents and adults. She obtained a full scholarship from the <a href=\"https:\/\/buffettscholarships.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Buffet Foundation<\/a> and the Fogarty HIV\/AIDS training programme to complete her Master\u2019s degree (in 2004) and Doctorate degree in Epidemiology (in 2007) from the <a href=\"https:\/\/universityofcalifornia.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of California,<\/a> Los Angeles (U.C.L.A.). David has trained and consulted for hundreds of organisations, ranging from small mental health centres to government departments and national behavioural healthcare companies. David has also authored a number of book chapters and papers in a variety of professional publications. He is Chief Editor of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asam.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ASAM<\/a> Patient Placement Criteria and is the Senior Vice President for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.changecompanies.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Change Companies<\/a>. David's medical, psychiatric and addictions training began in his home country of Australia. From there it took him to Ohio, Massachusetts, Hawaii and eventually California. He was one of the pioneers responsible for the setting up and development of addiction services both in the hospital and in the community. His last appointment was as chief of the Addiction Medicine Department, IMH. Dr. Winslow has been a pioneer in addiction and impulse control disorders (alcohol, substance dependence, gambling, gaming, sexual compulsivity, etc) in the Asia-Pacific region. He is a sought-after speaker at addiction conferences around the region. He has published and presented widely on both general psychological and addiction issues. He continues his academic and research interests through his academic appointments with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuh.com.sg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National University Hospital, Singapore<\/a> and teaching at many counselling courses. His early training in the art of meditation started in his early twenties when he was admitted as a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosicrucian.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rosicrucian Order (AMORC)<\/a>. There he underwent instructions in the art of focusing and concentration. He graduated to become its Singapore Chapter Master. Jeffrey also engages meditation practices with those who are incarcerated and prison authorities have expressed that those practices do benefit the inmates. Recently, he has incorporated the use of meditation into counselling and psychotherapy sessions and he has designed a methodology which he termed as \u201cMeditative <em>flow<\/em>-Psychotherapy:\u201d a system of meditation that involves the use of life energy and imageries. This technique uses psycho-education when practitioners are in meditative state and they are \u201cguided\u201d to the topic of meditation. He has authored two books: \u201cThe Buddhist Companion\u201d and \"The Buddhist Snippets.\u201d Under preparation is his new book: \u201cThe Framework of Meditative <em>flow<\/em>-Therapy.\u201d He has also written many articles related to the subject of meditation, the latest of which was published in the October 2013 issue of the Journal of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
