Held at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai, UAE, the Erada International Addiction Conference (EIA) takes place on the 2nd & 3rd of March 2018. An open invitation to all who are interested in gaining knowledge about the disease of addiction, the EIAC will address the social aspects of the disease as well as treatment. As mentioned by Dr. Abdulqader Alkhayat on the EIA website, topics discussed will include: the social neuroscience of addiction and recovery, addiction as a brain disease with social consequences, and bridging the gap between research and practice in addiction treatment.

Presenting his lecture on March 3rd, 2018 (day 2), he will be speaking about addictions and the family. A wide topic, it covers many aspects of addiction’s effects on family life including, but not limited to: codependency, pain & shame/guilt within the family, the individual roles played within an unhealthy family, as well as the addict’s way of thinking and core beliefs.

A Solace representative office, located in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is currently being established to do just that. We are hoping to reach out to the Gulf region, in attempts to both work with other professionals around the world to improve our standards of treatment, as well as to help combat the general misunderstanding and social stigma revolving around addiction, especially in the Middle East.
