The 6th Asia Pacific Behavioral and Addiction Medicine Conference has come to an end on November 28th. Regarded as one of the most important gathering of addiction and mental health professionals in the city state of Singapore and the Asia Pacific region, the conference once again attracted experts from various nations for a three days opportunity to exchange knowledge, discuss the latest treatment methodologies and advancements in the fight against addictions and related disorders.
Solace Asia, took part at the event as a proud sponsor for the 6th consecutive time. Representing the organization was CEO & Clinical Director Dr. Prem Kumar Shanmugam whom throughout the three days event met with the attending delegates, strengthening the existing collaborative relationships of Solace Asia throughout the region, while establishing new rapports with emerging bodies seeking cooperative efforts in treating addictions across their communities.
With an engaging presentation on November 27th, Dr. Prem Kumar Shanmugam shared his knowledge and professional experience on the topic of “Addiction and Families”, the codependency that manifests between individuals suffering from the disease of addiction and their family members, a form of “dual diagnosis” methodically healed by his clinical team at Solace Asia, which is not uncommon in most families where a loved one is suffering from a substance or behavioral dependence.
Commended by those attending his workshop for his leading role in the treatment of addictions in Malaysia and Singapore, Dr. Prem Kumar Shanmugam ended his session by renewing his commitment in supporting the conference in the years to come, adding that are gatherings like APBAM that make possible the continuous development of addiction treatment programs.
