Jointly organized by the University Sultan Zainal Abidin in collaboration with other public universities in the country, was the 2nd International Conference in Addiction Science ICAS 2019, held at the UNISZA premises in Terengganu, Malaysia from the 12th to the 16th of November.
Supported and attended by numerous medical professionals, researchers and government agencies from each corner of the nation, Solace Asia contributed to the event with a presentation by the CEO and Clinical Director Dr. Prem Kumar Shanmugam on the topic of: Addiction and the Family – Dual Diagnosis: Perils and Pitfalls. On the subject, Dr. Prem Kumar Shanmugam has conducted researches and widely published. His area of interest is in culture specific treatment approaches for families with addictions.
During the 5 days program, professionals in the field of addiction treatment presented and debate various new approaches to addiction, its causes, the consequences and the toll it takes on society.
Well received by the all the attendees and luminaries, Dr. Prem’s presentation was praised for its insightful “family disease model” in addictions.
